Today the postman arrived with several parcels. One little grey one contained this month's sock yarn from Jeni. Full of the promise of summer, the bright and breezy colours are lovely.
We had pondered what colours we would get on our Ravelry forum. None of us was right. Jeni surprised us with her inspiration, summer picnic wares from DIY stores!
It is bright and fresh, blues and greens. Fantastic.
April's yarn is inspired by the apple blossom in Jeni's garden.
I fancied doing something a little different with this yarn, so no socks here. I am crocheting a shawl. It's from an old pattern booklet that I was given by a friend. It cost a grand total of 60p when it was new.
The colours are coming together well and I think it looks very spring like and pretty. One of the advantages of crochet is the speed at which it grows. This is only a couple of hours work.
This is wonderful and I had to take a picture of it in true Valentine mode.
I'm going to make Emilee's Heart Lace Socks from this wool.
I've made Cookie's Pomatomus socks from http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter05/PATTpomatomus.html from my January sock club yarn. They worked out really well and are very comfortable. Definately worth the effort.
Yes, at last I've cast on my socks with the lovely January Dream sock yarn. It's not what I set out to do. These will be trainer socks with a picot edge. A dear friend fell in love with the colours and she only wears trainer style socks, so I'm making them for her.
I'm having a go with two circular needles instead of my usual DPNs. I found it very awkward at first. I think I need longer cables. Now there is some fabric on the pins the going is a lot easier.
